You may have heard of the phrase "meal-prepping" before. If you haven't, meal preparation is essentially preparing a meal for each day of the week ahead of time. People meal prep for various reasons. Some meal prep because they are too busy to cook meals every day, while another meal prep ensures they are eating a healthy/ balanced meal ever

y day of the week. Regardless of the reason, meal prepping has proven to be a beneficial and healthy eating strategy. Let's go over some of the benefits of meal prepping;

  • You save time! Setting aside a few hours once a week to cook, organize, and store your food, gives you more time to complete your day to day tasks throughout the week. You can go to sleep at night, knowing you are set for the rest of the week.

  • You save calories. You'll be less likely to indulge in fast foods and unhealthy snacks if you set aside some time to plan healthy meals ahead of time. It also ensures you are controlling your food intake, preventing you from eating beyond fullness.

  • You can ensure you are eating a balanced diet every day of the week. Sometimes we tend to eat a little too much of one food group and not enough of another. By planning ahead of time, you can figure out how much of each food group you will be eating each day.

  • You save money! Often we don't take into consideration how quickly the money we spend adds up. That $10 pizza you told yourself won't do you any harm adds up throughout the week. Before you know it, you're spending quite a bit of money on outside food throughout the week. By preparing meals ahead of time, you won't have to continue spending money on food each day.
