Tips on Staying Motivated for your Workouts

Updated: Jul 25, 2021

We all know the struggle. It could’ve been a long day at work, you didn’t get any sleep last night, or your bed and a new Netflix episode just sound so much better than dragging yourself to the gym and getting a workout in before the day ends. There has to be a better way of motivating yourself. How can you tell you are putting in the work at the gym, and what are some ways to stay motivated?

Tip #1: Go to the gym with a partner. It’s no question there’s a lot of satisfaction that comes from pushing yourself individually in the gym, but having someone to help you stay on track will keep you motivated and encouraged throughout your whole fitness journey. If you already have a plan to meet your gym partner at 8pm on Monday, it seems more of a hassle (and an embarrassment) to cancel on them than it does to "cancel"

on yourself.

Tip #2: Follow your favorite athletes, fitness influencers, and brands (including JPFit4Life, of course) on all of your social media platforms. You’ll see them posting content that will keep you motivated to try new things at the gym and stay active even when you aren’t feeling like it. Seeing them accomplish their goals on a platform you might originally be on out of habit can change the game for your fitness journey.

Tip #3: Track your progress. There are countless apps, trackers, and methods to measure your fitness progress and help you make your successes and achievements tangible, even if you may not be seeing a stark change in your body. Even using the classic notes app on your phone or a notebook can help you progress and stay encouraged.

Tip #4: Look for new opportunities to try new things and meet new people. Showing up at the gym becomes a chore if there’s no one to see, nothing new to try, and the same bland workouts you’ve been doing. Take a look around next time you go to the gym. What is something new you could try to push yourself, and who might you be able to find common ground with?

With these tips, you can make an unmotivated, lazy workout an uplifting, encouraging one that will benefit you in more ways than one. With JPIT4LIFE, we are your “gym best friend” that can be that person to help you stay on track, stay motivated, and reach the goals you’ve set for yourself. Call us for a free consultation.
